Associate - Business Analyst

What is it that you do?
I have been working for the past few months as a Business Analyst for Pega Solutions at a large Dutch Bank. Before that, I was a Test Analyst for Cognizant. My team and I are responsible for creating a software application for the client’s business customers.

What do you like about working for Cognizant?
Cognizant is an international company that provides international opportunities. I am now working for a Dutch client and I have Spanish and Indian colleagues. That makes working for Cognizant fun and interesting. You also get a lot of new opportunities within the company and you can continue growing and learning throughout your career path. The culture within the company is amazing! You can feel comfortable talking to everyone — even people in upper management. There are even frequent events where you can get to know your colleagues even better.

A day in my life
The first thing I do when I arrive at the client’s site is get a fresh cup of coffee to drink while reading me emails. Every day at 9am, we usually have a stand-up to get an up-to-date status of the project and we each say what we are planning to do that day. After that, I start meetings with business analysts and developers. When not in a meeting, I continue to test the application. Around 5:30pm, it’s time to wrap up at the office and go home.

What would you recommend to people who are considering a career at Cognizant?
If you like working in a dynamic and international environment, you’ll definitely want to work at Cognizant. You’ll have the opportunity to grow, learn, and work with people from different countries on a variety of projects. And all of this in an amazing company culture!

Sitecore Lead Architect - Digital Engagement Practice

What is it that you do?
I’m the Sitecore Lead Architect working in the Digital Engagement Practice for Cognizant. I’m responsible for Sitecore competence in the Continental Europe region. This includes various duties such as providing RFP support, training new resources as well as participating in ongoing projects and starting new ones. It is a never-ending mishmash that constantly keeps me on my toes and never gets dull.

What do you like about working for Cognizant?
As I mentioned previously, one thing I enjoy about working for Cognizant is the variety of work, which enables me to develop multiple skills whilst ensuring I don’t get stuck on a one-way street that leads to boredom. Being able to reach out to a global network of peers and knowing there’s little to nothing the company cannot do within reasonable boundaries is also extremely exciting when discussing assignments with customers. The most interesting customers only contribute to this. Of course, due to the international character of the assignment, I have to travel — I personally enjoy being able to meet people from all over the world and contribute to their company or society. This doesn’t just apply for customers, but for my co-workers as well. The cultural diversity is definitely an experience which I’m glad for. As a final point, I’d like to highlight the operational freedom you have at Cognizant.

A day in my life
Describing a day in my life at Cognizant is difficult because every day is different, so describing one day just wouldn’t be representative. Just like everyone else, most days include answering emails, resolving customer issues and ensure projects are on track and that your tasks completed. You also need to communicate with various colleagues, attend occasional calls with the international teams and delegate or implement what comes out of these conversations. Other days, I might travel to meet a customer and discuss their strategy, RFP or project. Sometimes I’ll also be present at events to represent Cognizant and talk to peers and potential customers alike.

What would you recommend to people who are considering a career at Cognizant?
Cognizant is a huge corporation and that may frighten you at first, but once you step through our doors and start talking to our people you’ll see that Cognizant is a big family working together to achieve the best. It’s a world full of opportunities and there shouldn’t be a reason for you to hesitate to add your talents to our pool.

Graduate Analyst

What is it that you do?
Graduate Analyst from the AIM-EDM department (Analytics and Information Management – Enterprise Data Management). In other words, I’m a consultant for Data Quality, Data Governance and Master Data Management.

What do you like about working for Cognizant?
As part of the Graduate Program, I have a flexible role during projects. I support my team members with any activities. It helps me to better understand what I’m able to do and what I love to do. During my first year at Cognizant, I had the opportunity to work on projects in Belgium, Netherlands and France for clients in the Insurance industry, Consumer goods sector and Banking sector. That was a great experience, and really interesting! Moreover, Cognizant doesn’t hesitate to empower people who proactively bring ideas to the company. Even if you don’t have that much experience, you can find people to support your choices and resolve your doubts. I’m constantly impressed by Cognizant’s ability to mobilize smart, easy-going and internationally-minded professionals with a lot of energy.

A day in my life
At our office in Amsterdam, I participated in a charity project called DataMinds that helped two NGOs over a weekend with our expertise in Data Analysis. This project was an opportunity to meet other colleagues, to learn new skills and to give back to the community. More than 75 volunteers took part with various backgrounds and from different countries. It was amazing! Once I went back to Brussels, I suggested doing the same in Belgium and I immediately found people to put that in place.
