Consulting Finance & Risk Management Manager

What is it that you do?
I'm a Manager within Finance and Risk Management, including statutory/prudential reporting, accounting and consolidation. I work with our customers from the banking and insurance sectors on a variety of projects ranging from PMO on regulatory projects to statutory/prudential reporting set-up for the departments responsible for such reporting.

What do you like about working for Cognizant?
I appreciate the fact that management lets us voice our views and participate in the decision-making process. Freedom of expression is greatly valued within the organisation, and management ensures that everyone is able to voice their opinions and play their part well within the organisation. Every day I feel involved in the company's activities such as developments in my profession, internal events, revenue growth, recruitment of my future colleagues etc.

A day in my life
I generally work with our customers but I also regularly participate in the organisation's internal activities in terms of recruitment, service offering development or practice meetings. This gives me the opportunity to exchange and share experiences of my involvement with other consultants within my department or within the organisation.

What would you recommend to people who are considering a career at Cognizant?
I would encourage the candidate to apply for a position with the group if he/she is looking for a dynamic, challenging yet compassionate work environment. Right from the start, the candidate will benefit from close monitoring by experienced managers and partners who always ensure they share their expertise and establish a rewarding working relationship. Thanks to training and transfer of expertise that remain a central focus, the candidate can better understand the expectations and approach to take during an appointment and most importantly avoid becoming stuck at the very first problem they encounter.

What is it that you do?
I joined Cognizant in 2008 as a Senior Project Manager, and in 2010 I moved to the role of Account Manager in insurance. My job has three main dimensions that have to be taken into account in equal measure; Ensure growth to support our development in the French market. Customer satisfaction for a sustainable business and to increase our footprint in this region. Team satisfaction to ensure motivation and commitment to bring value to our customers.

There are many aspects that I particularly like about my job, summarised as follows:
1: The company's entrepreneurial culture really motivates me in my job.
2: Access to multi-tower and multi-geography deals, thanks to the company's global footprint and excellent exposure in most market analysts reports.
3: Team spirit across boundaries I'm always impressed by the way a multi-regional team is set up in just a few days to handle customer's requests. Cognizant really is "born global".

A day in my life
I've experienced many memorable moments during my eight years with Cognizant. If I had to choose just one as the most remarkable, I'd definitely talk about my first trip to India to meet my colleagues there for the first time. That was a special moment when I met people that I'd been working with for six months already. I had seen all of them over video conferencing systems, but being with them in person was something very different. In addition to these human aspects, my perception of the company really changed after I saw the impressive Cognizant facilities there.

What would you recommend to people who are considering a career at Cognizant?
As a very fast-growing company, Cognizant will bring people a lot of opportunities. That is definitely valuable to people who are looking for a career boost. Cognizant is definitely the place those people should be coming.

What is it that you do?
I'm the Head of Marketing in France. This means that I share one of the market's best kept secrets: Cognizant. My aim is to make people "cognizant" (or aware) of what we bring to the market, what we deliver, what we stand for and how we partner as an industry leader. My work is based on four pillars: building awareness, client and market development, lead generation and sales support, using a mix of programmes, campaigns and activities. In order to achieve this, I work across a matrix of horizontal and vertical units with a global team of experts that are highly skilled in communication, business and functionality.

Science is not a fiction any more, it’s a reality and it's creating a new paradigm where you have to focus on ethics, trust, convictions, talents, you name it. How much more interesting can it get? For all these reasons, it brings me great satisfaction to assist our growth in France.

A day in my life
I start my day with a coffee — what else! That is a moment of privilege when you can meet with anyone and everyone in the company. You get to discuss many things, learn a lot about the latest news, deals, challenges and opportunities, and it is a lot of fun. Then, I take a look at the media and social media to keep track of trends, news, best practices and innovations, which help enhance client focus, improve marketing's insightfulness and bring inspiration. I regularly catch up with teams all other the world on programmes or opportunities. Then, no two days are ever the same, with a variety of activities ranging from strategy to operational execution. We go from asset creation to lead generation tactics encompassing briefings or brainstorms with experts, developing integrated programmes to amplify our message, organizing events and suggesting social media digests. In a nutshell, my day is all about being flexible, smart, agile, connected, creative, results- and client-focused and always close to the teams.

What is it that you do?
I started work with Cognizant in 2013 as an Onsite Co-ordinator for a managed application services centre, specialising in life sciences. I was responsible for liaising with my clients and operational teams, as well as the day-to-day portfolio management applications. As my work was successful, I was offered more responsibilities in the form of managing the rollout of quality systems on clients' sites and subsidiaries from the post–kick-off step to the projects going live. This position is critical as it makes my work more visible, which is very challenging.

What do you like about working for Cognizant?
Cognizant brings a new mindset of work to the landscape of French IT companies. As an employee, I feel free to take initiatives that could bring value to my client. What I like the most about working for Cognizant is the international context, diversity and the mindset of all employees, which make all of us responsible and free to organise our time.

A day in my life
The days are so different…what I can confirm is that there is certainly no routine when you work at Cognizant.

What would you recommend to people who are considering a career at Cognizant?
Beyond the skills and competencies you may have, the most important thing will be matching with the common mindset of Cognizant employees: transparency, mutual assistance and good relationships with colleagues and clients. You should also be ready to have a great time with the team, especially in the Lyon office where we plan plenty of fun activities with our colleagues.

This first opportunity with Cognizant, working with small groups of young and talented Cognizant employees, was a really exciting experience. Indeed, I appreciate Cognizant's philosophy, which is based on recognising human skills and seeking high technologies such as Code Halos and other digital innovation.

Senior Manager Business Analysis, Banking and Insurance

What is it that you do?
I have ten years' expertise in the Banking and Insurance sector, and I am mainly involved in business analysis and functional consulting ("MOA") and organisation support projects. The last strategic engagement of which I was a part involved organisational implementation of a joint venture between two major players in the banking sector. I worked as Organisation Project Manager for the implementation of various target business processes on the Securities/Stock Exchange domain.

What do you like about working for Cognizant?
After graduating from the INSEEC Business School in Paris in 2006, and with ten years' experience of working at a consulting firm, I joined Cognizant in June 2015. I chose CBA for its smaller size, its team spirit focused on expertise and the company's internal activities. Additionally, the attention given by employees to the company's internal activities was a determining factor. Today, Cognizant's trust in me enables me to lead the Banking and Insurance practice in collaboration with other experts in this domain. We have decided to work on current sector trends with the help of think tanks to study and propose CBA offerings on Digital, regulatory issues and Big Data.

A day in my life
Coming from a marketing background, I have always had an interest in brainstorming, which allows me to combine creativity and collective interactions. I just love it! What has been your best experience with a customer? During an engagement for implementing a joint venture, a competition was launched to determine the future name of the entity. Think tanks were appointed to decide on a possible name that would meet the particular criteria, based mainly on the values represented by the two companies in question. Internally, we discussed and suggested many names, one of which was selected and approved by the senior management team. After having worked with and given a name to this entity, I will be proud to see its inception in November 2016.

What would you recommend to people who are considering a career at Cognizant?
Do you intend to work in a flexible structure that encourages interactions between management and employees? Do you focus on quality and expertise in your engagements? And are you looking to participate in internal and development activities within your company? CBA shares these same values and encourages employees to grow professionally.
