One part is taking phone calls from customers with simple system and application questions. But you will also connect daily with the expert IT team to solve complex issues and follow up with customers who you advice on the status of their requests.
We are looking for people with a good level of English who are fluent in one other European language e.g. Danish, Dutch, French, Finnish, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish or Swedish. You should have excellent communication skills and be enthusiastic and ambitious.

Senior Systems Engineer
I started working at Cognizant as a Service Desk Agent supporting Spanish and Italian a year ago, right after graduating. I think I made the right choice choosing this company. Working at Cognizant is challenging, but I enjoy working for an IT company. As we have a multinational atmosphere here, we learn a lot about different cultures, habits and traditions.
Cognizant provides employees with great room and opportunity for professional development. With the training they provide, we gain a deeper insight into IT. I find it fascinating how different software and tools go together to make it possible for us to use computers. I started working for Cognizant Hungary just under a year ago now. I really enjoy working in such a diverse environment. It’s always interesting to have friends from all over the world.
With no previous experience, I really enjoyed the challenge of taking calls from people and fixing their issues quickly, and I found that I learned the ropes quickly thanks to the help and support of my colleagues.
Within six months I showed my interest in taking more responsibility and I was promoted to Deputy Team Leader. Now I spend most of my time helping my colleagues in return and making sure they have everything they need to be able to do their job.
I started working for Cognizant 2 years ago as a senior technical analyst, providing support for a German and French project. I find my job and the whole Cognizant scene really interesting because it feels like I work outside the borders of Hungary, while physically I still live and work in my motherland.
Many nations, cultures and different personalities work here together with one common goal: to help people all around the world solve their technical problems. Cognizant is a bright star in Budapest’s shared service centres, giving people the opportunity to study and develop a great career.
Since joining two years ago, I have been promoted to technical lead, and at the moment I’m also applying for a deputy team leader position, which would be another great step forward for me.
Taking calls and answering mail in German, while logging tickets and communicating with other solver groups in English means you never get bored here. You have to continuously use your soft skills, and your IT knowledge is continually growing since there are always new technical improvements which are often the source of new problems waiting to be solved.
It has been a pleasure working here and I look forward to the next challenge in my journey at Cognizant.
In my opinion, working for Cognizant is challenging as you are surrounded by people from different countries and so you have to be able to quickly develop your language skills and learn to understand different idioms.
I work for Cognizant Hungary on a project which deals with Life Sciences and drug cycles. Our helpdesk supports Spanish, Italian, German and French users all over the world. I started to work on this project in November 2015 supporting English, Spanish and Italian users and after many months of experience I am now the Training Coordinator and Quality Checker for the team.
I like my job as I feel that I am helping hospitals and universities with their research, but I would be even happier one day if I could work as a recruiter because I feel that my personality fits this task even better.
Senior Project Coordinator
I started my journey at Cognizant Hungary just over 2 years ago. I had just come back from France where I finished my Erasmus semester, and my friend mentioned that Cognizant could make use of my French language skills. He recommended me and that’s where it all began. It’s incredible, really, as I did not have any previous experience, but Cognizant offered me the position of a service desk agent anyway. In terms of the labour market in Hungary, this is a huge selling point to those who are just starting their careers.
I don’t regret joining one bit. I enjoy the multicultural environment; you hear great stories from colleagues of other cultures and that makes your day a lot more colourful, even though the job itself is not dull at all. Constant challenges and the ever-changing technical environment push you to adapt and improve. Contrary to popular misconception, working on the service desk is not just about answering call after call. You improve your IT knowledge a lot and your language skills can see a huge improvement too. And as no day’s the same, it’s never boring.
You also have the possibility to advance your career. I myself worked up to the position of project coordinator which involves communications, marketing, business planning and a wide range of other responsibilities which allow me to learn, improve and get tons of experience I can make use of later.
